Donates Half a Million Dollars to Rebuild Santa Rosa School for Children with Autism
More than 80% of funding came from direct customer donations and purchases of Cellar Crew, new wine launched to raise money for fire rescue fund
Napa, CA – December 12, 2017 — Nakedwines.com the online crowd-funding wine platform, is donating $500,000 to The Anova School, a non-profit school for Autistic Children in Santa Rosa that burned down in the October wildfires in Napa and Sonoma Counties
An integral part of the lives of many Santa Rosa residents since its founding in 2000, Anova is a provider of educational, behavioral and therapy services for children and teens with high functioning autism and other learning differences. The staff and pupils lost their school and everything in it during the fires. The initial donation from nakedwines.com is expected to cover everything from desks, chairs and computers to therapy equipment and school books.
More than 80% of funding was made possible by the generosity of nakedwines.com customers and winemakers around the world, and the company plans to provide ongoing support in rebuilding the school. The $500,000 donation comes just four weeks after nakedwines.com launched a fire rescue fund to support the winemaking community devastated by the California wildfires in Napa and Sonoma Counties.
“Anova Education struck a chord with our staff and customers,” said Nick Devlin, President of nakedwines.com. “Through this effort, it’s clear that our Angels are more than just customers who like great wine; we are a community who wants to the community around us. I’m proud to be a part of that, and we are thrilled to be supporting Anova with our donations.”
Mary Beth Ludwig, CPA, Co Founder and COO of Anova commented, “We can’t thank the Nakedwines.com Angels enough for helping our community with such an amazing gift. We will be forever grateful. You are all lifesavers. I am quite amazed. Thank you for believing in us and what we do.”
Nakedwines.com is continuing to raise funds for wildfire relief through a newly launched red wine, “Cellar Crew.” All sales of the innovative blend, appellated “Wine of America,” will be donated to the company’s fire rescue fund, which will be donated to those in Napa and Sonoma counties who are most impacted by the fires. Several suppliers for this wine donated their goods and services (Lange Twins, Tricor, Pack n Ship, Wine Secrets, Janson Capsules, 4Parts, G3.)
To date, more than $150,000 from the fire rescue fund has been donated to other local causes including the Napa Valley Community Foundation, Community Foundation Sonoma County and Latino Community Foundation, all who are all supporting those worst impacted by the fires.

Crux Winery Creates Custom, Limited Release
Pinot Noir Magnum Benefiting Anova
Great partnerships are an important part of building community and no one knows that more than we do. In 2017 during the Tubbs fire our ACE Santa Rosa campus was damaged beyond repair. What followed was a contingency of organizations, businesses and individuals from all over the world coming together to help us rebuild. Now as we approach the two-year anniversary of students and staff moving back onto campus, we are honored to once again be the beneficiary of the what makes Sonoma County so wonderful - the individuals and businesses that care for the community. teaming up with Crux, a local winery who has a history of generously supporting their efforts to serve students with Autism.
Long before the events of 2017, Crux Winery owners Brian Callahan and Steven Gower had teamed up with Bergin, Encore, Cork Supply, Cartograph, and VinoShipper to create a custom Pinot magnum in support of the ACE Sonoma school. The two winemakers have always had a deep love and admiration for the services Anova provides to students and families throughout Sonoma County. While the fires didn’t slow the duo down, the inspiration for their product shifted. The incredible strength and resilience exhibited by the Anova community, moved the school to change their mascot from the dragon to the phoenix and so Crux followed suit with the Crux Phoenix Pinot.
Brian and Steven proudly handed off the first round of proceeds to our incredibly grateful Anova founder, Andrew Bailey in a small thank you reception in early 2020. The limited release Phoenix Pinot Noir magnum is wonderfully delicious and has recently been written up by Virginie Boone with Wine Enthusiast Magazine where it was rated 91points! Anova looks forward to a continued partnership with Crux and is so grateful for their generosity and dedication to ACE Sonoma and the students and families they serve.
